Production Capability and Outsourcing Trends of Japanese Pharmaceutical Companies 2010 (Japanese version)
Outline of the report
With the revision of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law in April 2005, Japanese pharmaceutical companies revised their production capabilities and have pushed on corporate restructuring and split-ups. Companies such as Astellas and Daiichi-Sankyo have split-up all their production facilities and are actively restructuring affiliated companies. Global movements are also visible as Eisai has constructed new production and research centers for API and formulations in India and Takeda is consolidating the management of its API production facilities in Ireland.
In addition to the integration and closing of production facilities, companies are now outsourcing their production capacity aiming to reduce costs and to improve productivity. Also quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) systems are being strengthened.
This report is the revised edition of the 2008 report, which covers the changes in production capabilities and outsourcing status of Japanese companies of the three years. This report will aid in connecting pharmaceutical companies with contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
