Over the past 100 years, films continued to be used in every stage - from shooting, to delivering, showing and storing. Due to the progress in film digitization technologies, however, all of these processes can be digitized these days. This resulted in reduced cost for producing films, while added cost arises for equipment investment. In Hollywood, CA, Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI) announced the completion of the overall system requirements and specifications for digital cinema, while in Europe, movements are seen in opposition to these specifications. Looking at the digital cinema market in China, there is a growing trend of digital cinema theaters being established in line with the national policy.

These movements reflect a significant rise in digital cinema market over the recent couple of years, which just began to take shape in 2002 when Seed Planning released the first issue of this report.
